No Bra Day: Mastectomy Tattoos

I want this company to love and champion all women. Something that has been brought to my attention a lot since diving deep into social media and such are all of these national days. They may be National Pink Day or National Take Your Dog to Work Day. There is something for everyone. When researching today, I saw it was National No Bra Day.

This is conflicting because National No Bra Day was back in July. Why was it again in October? Come to find out it is happening again only because it is breast cancer awareness month.

I recently read an article about a woman who went through breast cancer and lost both breasts and a lot of other skin and tissue. She talks about National No Bra Day and how it feel as if it’s almost a slap on the face because women with breast cancer more often than not, end up losing their breasts.

I’m glad I read it because, to be honest, I was thinking about posting the best strapless dresses for No Bra Day and after reading that I began to look at what it’s like for women after mastectomies, what they go through and how their lives change. I read so many forums about women looking for wedding dresses and how nervous they were about trying to find the right dress because of their experience.

I then began to look at women who decide to get gorgeous tattoos done over their scars. I have decided to showcase those images on the blog today. I hope you take the time to admire the craft of the tattoo artist and the strong amazing humans who wear those tattoos everyday.

Below are a couple of my favorite images, they come from this site, click to check out more images. All the images below are from that site as well.

This image strikes me. It’s an amazing piece of art, looks like it was taken in the 80’s. It is also a scary wake up call that it doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like or your age, this could be you. Cancer doesn’t discriminate.
